Short Back & Sidewalks, a not-for-profit giving free haircuts to people in need, has partnered with HoMie, a social enterprise streetwear brand, to release a limited-edition fundraising t-shirt, the VIP Day t-shirt.

All funds raised from sales of the t-shirt will help Short Back & Sidewalks continue delivering free haircuts and creating positive connections for some of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of our community.

Short Back & Sidewalks founder and CEO Craig Hollywood said it’s a great collaboration between two like-minded charities to raise some much-needed funding for Short Back & Sidewalks.

“Short Back & Sidewalks has been hit hard by the effects of COVID-19,” Mr Hollywood said.

“All fundraising ventures planned for this year were abruptly cancelled as the virus moved its way across the globe.

With the help of the team from HoMie, we’ve created a limited-edition collaborative t-shirt for us to sell that will help Short Back & Sidewalks get through in the short term.”

Unfortunately, the people we aim to support have been the ones even harder hit by this pandemic, and for us to continue our work, we need some help from the community.

The generosity of spirit from the team at HoMie, even when they’ve also been affected by COVID-19, has not been lost on Mr Hollywood: “The fact HoMie dropped everything to help us in our moment of need shows the essence of true community.

People getting together in a time like this with the sole intention of supporting members of the community in need is what Short Back & Sidewalks and HoMie are all about.”

Marcus Crook, co-founder of HoMie, is excited for the future of the collaboration between the two not-for-profits.

“We’re so pumped to be collaborating with Short Back & Sidewalks for these tees and our VIP Days. They’ve been doing such great work, creating connections and providing haircuts for people affected by hardship,” Mr Crook said.

“We connected with Short Back & Sidewalks on a trip to Mutitjulu at Uluru and it’s a perfect fit for our VIP Days in Melbourne. Haircuts are such an integral part of the day; you can never underestimate what a fresh cut can do for someone’s confidence and self-esteem.”

The Short Back & Sidewalks x HoMie VIP Day t-shirt retails for AUD$50 plus shipping and can be purchased here: LINK
